SADDLEBRED RECORD RULES

  1. *Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible, a horse (living or deceased) must have earned the necessary 15 points (See Saddlebred Record Point System).
  2. Number of Points & AHSA Show Requirements: To become a Champion, a horse must have won 15 points at American Horse Shows Association "A" rated shows.
IMPORTANT: If the show is "A" rated in the Three Gaited, Five Gaited or Fine Harness divisions, points will be counted for all other divisions at that show regardless of the AHSA rating.
However, if the Three Gaited, Five Gaited or Fine Harness divisions are not "A" rated at that show, points will only be given for wins in eligible divisions which are "A" rated and have been verified. For example: The horse may win points in the Pleasure division which has been "A" rated, but no points will be given in the Three Gaited, Five Gaited, or Fine Harness division if these divisions are not "A" rated.
  3. Time Limit on Points: There is no time limit on earning points.
  4. *Application: Application must be made on the proper form, be complete in every respect, and be accompanied by application fee of $10.00. Application may be submitted by the owner, agent, or other person.
  5. Refund Policies: Refunds will be made when (a) a horse cannot be designated a Champion; (b) dual applications are received, in which case the earliest postmark date prevails; or (c) at the discretion of the ASHA.
  6. Approval of Champion: When the horse has been approved as a Champion, applicant will receive the Certificate of Championship. The prefix CH will be permanently added to the horse's name on ASHA records; a new registration certificate will be issued to the Owner of Record upon the presentation of the old certificate. The photograph of the approved Champion, along with all pertinent information, will be published in the annual edition of the Saddlebred Record.
  7. Permanent Status: The designation of Champion is permanent and irrevocable.
  8. Duplicate Certificates of Championship: Will be issued for $35 each.
